Why are professional cleanings necessary if I brush and floss every day?

Your daily brushing and flossing are essential, but they're just part of keeping your smile healthy. Even with great home care, plaque can harden into tartar in hard-to-reach areas. Once hardened, you can't remove tartar with a toothbrush. Our professional cleanings remove this buildup before it causes gum disease or decay. What happens during a dental exam?

Your exam is thorough, efficient, and completely tailored to you. Dr. Platt will check your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw for any signs of problems. We take digital X-rays when needed to spot issues below the surface. You'll also receive an oral cancer screening and have plenty of time to ask questions.
